James Cook University's (JCU) Senior Fellows are experienced and respected senior GP colleagues who are available to facilitate dialogue between supervisors and JCU management, medical educators and administrative staff.
Senior Fellows provide feedback to JCU from the supervisor's perspective and provide feedback to supervisors on areas including Australian General Practice Training, educational, practice and registrar activity across our region.

Associate Professor Bruce Chater has been a rural doctor in the Queensland town of Theodore for over 35 years. Associate Professor Chater is Chair of the Queensland Health Statewide Rural and Remote Clinical Network, Head of the Discipline of Rural and Remote Medicine at University of Queensland, a Senior Fellow with JCU GP Training, Secretary of the World Organisation of General Practitioners Working Party on Rural Practice, and a member of the Australian Independent Hospital Pricing Authority Board. Associate Professor Chater is a founding convener of the Rural Doctors Associations of Queensland and Australia, the founding Chair of the Australian National Rural Health Alliance, former Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine president, and former council member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
