Extended skills

Registrars on the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) fellowship pathway are required to complete six months of Extended Skills Training in an area of special interest.

Extended Skills Training extends the depth and breadth of the registrar's skill base in an area relevant to primary medical care. Registrars select a discipline in which to gain further skills and this can include terms in hospital, general practice and other health settings.

The following is a sample list of some of the skills training options available to Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) registrars, subject to availability:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
  • Academic General Practice
  • Anaesthetics
  • General Practice
  • Palliative Care
  • Mental Health
  • Skin Cancer Medicine
  • Sports Medicine
