How is JCU making a difference?

James Cook Univeristy's GP Registrar Liaison Officer, Dr Hannah Newell Kraus, and second-year registrar, Dr Kris Mcquaid, have a special tie to Anzac Day. Both work at the Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital, one of only two such hospitals still operating in Queensland.
Opened in 1920, the Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital was established by the community, in part to assist World War 1 returning soldiers, as well as to honour those who did not come home. The hospital grounds include a memorial arbour, as well as the town’s Walk of Remembrance, established in 2015.
Drs Kraus and Mcquaid laid a floral wreath on behalf of GMT Sunshine Coast at Maleny’s main Anzac Day community service held outside the Maleny RSL on 25 April.
